The Mediterranean island of Capri is one of the most visually stunning destinations I’ve encountered in all my travels. It continues to lure me back again and again with it’s stunning beauty and magical appeal. Stay on the island for at least a night or two (or more if you can afford it). Capri has a completely different vibe at night when all the day-trippers leave. The enchantment of the island comes alive as dusk hits and the sun goes down. In the evening the winding pathways are crawling with stylishly beautiful people. Going to and from dinner, shopping the designer boutiques, sipping on an aperol spritz or having a gelato in the piazza.
Stay
Capri Tiberio Palace is the hotel I highly recommend on the island. It is a bit pricey but it has such a cool, eclectic, funky vibe. It stands in a great central location and contains so many interesting and unique pieces of artwork and design accessories to look at throughout the hotel. Not only is it visually stimulating but even the smell inside the hotel is intoxicating. Placed strategically throughout the common areas are these large oil diffusers, containing one of the most famous scents of Capri. It smells heavenly!
Some other luxury hotel options are Quisisana, which is located directly off the main piazza. JK Place is supposed to be a phenomenal hotel experience, although it is not a very convenient location if you want easy access to the center of Capri. La Minerva is another hotel option. We stayed at La Minerva many years ago and really enjoyed it. I believe it is a 4 star property but we loved it and thought the location was very convenient
The rooms and suites at Capri Tiberio Palace are simple and clean in their overall palate & design, with pops of color, and interesting little nicknacks and artwork sprinkled throughout.
The hotel bar (Jacky Bar) has a fun hip vibe. They mix up some mean martinis and offer small tasty bites during happy hour. Plus they always play super groovy lounge music.
Eat
Aurora, Da Paolino, Villa Verde, La Fontelina and Ristorante Il Riccio are a few of our favorites. Aurora is located just a few steps away from Capri Tiberio Palace and is a great spot for lunch or dinner. Da Paolino is practically a Capri institution in that it’s been around for many many years. It’s a 10 minute taxi ride from the center of Capri (main piazza) to the restaurant, but boy is it worth it when you arrive. As you walk into a canopy of lemon trees covering the entire outdoor dining area. It makes for a beautiful backdrop and know that you are in for a treat of a meal.
Play
Definitely spend an entire day at La Fontelina Beach Club ( post here), one of my absolute favorite places in Capri.
Charter a private boat with a captain to cruise you around the different grottos and end with a late lunch at Il Ricco Ristorante in Anacapri. After lunch at Il Riccio head into the old town of Anacapri for some shopping. Make sure to check out the Capri Palace Hotel boutique, which is right off the main square. I had some beautiful custom sandals made there and they carry designer fashions as well as locally made items, such as jewelry and small leather goods.
