Magical Positano is a place you can never forget.

This colorful cliffside village lies along the Amalfi Coast, which is approximately a 31 mile stretch of coastline along the southern edge of Italy’s Sorrentine Peninsula. There are many gorgeous towns and villages along this coastline. Sorrento, Ravello, Positano, and Amalfi just to name a few. Each of the towns has its own unique charm and beauty for sure, but there is something about Positano that draws you in and holds you tight. John Steinbeck once wrote “Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real while you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.”

Stay

There are countless options for accommodations in Positano, ranging from high-end luxury hotels to budget friendly airbnb’s, plus everything in between. A few of the top 5 star luxury properties include Le Sirenuse, Hotel Marincanto, Villa TreVille, and The San Pietro. These 5 star properties in Positano can be quite pricey during peak season. When traveling on a budget or with a couple of  kids in tow, spending that much can be very hard to swallow. I’ll save Le Sirenuse for just the hubby and I. Luckily, there are so many other options to choose from. We ended up booking at Buca Di Bacco, which sits right above the main beach in Positano. It was absolutely perfect for our one week stay in Positano.

The best location just a few steps away from the main beach in Positano. Loved having breakfast on this terrace each morning!

The rooms are simple, very clean, and elegantly decorated. Our family suite was very bright and cheerful. We even had a lovely terrace with loungers and a small dining table, that sat right above main beach.

Eat

Da’Vincenzo is one of my favorite places to eat in Positano. It’s a family run restaurant with really exquisite food. Open for dinner only. Reserve in advance as it books up quickly.

Next 2 Definitely sit outside in the beautiful courtyard and prepare to be spoiled with great service and even greater food.

Play

A day spent at Da’Adolfo is a day you wont soon forget. Take a 10 minute boat ride from the main dock in Positano. Look for  a little fishing boat with a large red fish on the mast and a sign thats says Da’Adolfo. When you arrive, you’ll see the beach is tiny with loungers lined up in rows. The restaurant serves up some of the freshest and most delicious local fare.
